NEW DATE: Sounds for Life Hearing Presentation

Protect your ears image.gif

Kristen Nolan, Audiologist @ Sounds for Life, was to  be on hand to give a Presentation about protecting your hearing which is so important to us. Our Art is very aware how disabling the loss of hearing can be! Kristen, has ridden motorcycles most of her life with her father and uncle who love to ride.  She should have great insight on protecting your hearing while riding.
Kristen has been an audiologist for 17 years.  She feels strongly about hearing conservation and feels that you can do what you love to do while preserving your hearing as well!  Kristen knows that motorcycle riders tend to have hearing loss due to the noise exposure, not only from the bike but from the wind as well.  Our discussion will be a general topic of hearing and hearing loss as well as prevention and options for listening while riding.

****Kristen will  bring earmold impression materials for sound suppression earplugs and can make these on site

She will bring sample custom earplugs that fit into your iPod or anything with a headphone jack.

RECAP of Newfoundland Travel Presentation with Holiday Cheer

Doc aka Wayne Edkin & wife Robin, who do lots of motorcycle touring on their K1200LT sidecar rig, gave a very informative 'Traveling to Newfoundland' Presentation. These questions were answered:  how hard is it to get there?  Weather, packing, planning?  Are there places to stay?  How big is that place? Robin and Doc Edkin shared tips and tales of their recent sidecar adventure to this Canadian Maritime province and showed lots of beautiful pictures.  Everyone enjoyed the Presentation and there may be some serious motorcycle travel in the future for some. We thank the Edkins for taking the time to share their adventure.

Watkins Glen International Charity Track Tour Re Cap

It didn't rain and was a beautiful day for our Track Tour. We had a 30 bike turnout and the 30 folks had great tour on the newly paved track. It was also fun watching the sports cars on the track beforehand.
We apologize that no photos while riding on the track were taken. There was miscommunication with the Photographer and it has been confirmed that photos were not taken. We regret that as we know it's always fun to find your photo

Otherwise, everyone seemed to have a fun time. Below is a quote from Kevin Dix who rode his Triumph.
"Great day at Watkins Glen International Raceway, got in the three laps. The officials cracked down on passing and speed a bit so I had to be relatively "good". Still got in some passes and speed is good any time. When we arrived there were some little four cylinder Chapparal type racers going at it. Then the Miata's, VW, Excort, and Volvo/Saabs took the track. Finally they let us loose!
Thank you Art and Lyn Elting and Watkins Glen for a great time."

Thank you to all of you who joined us. We are contributing $500 to the Alzheimer's Disease Research Fund at the University of Rochester. We appreciate your donations to this worthy cause

A TOP RIDER"S TOP TEN Re-Cap

December 12th and lots of motorcycles parked in the CRM lot.
Who would expect to see that. Nice turnout for the 'Rider's Top Ten' Presentation by Jon DelVecchio, Rider Coach. Great discussion and interest from the audience. Always good to be reminded of the safety things to be aware of when our bikes. Sometimes we get a bit complacent and forget to pay full attention to riding techniques.

ARE YOU AN ABOVE AVERAGE RIDER?  Odds are you view yourself as one. But what is your self-evaluation based on?  Jon DelVecchio from Street Skills will be here to discuss a "Top 10" list of things to do that will make you truly rise to the top among riders! It will be  good material to mull over during the non riding months and practice when riding season starts up.. www.streetskills.net

Jon will also take this opportunity to tell you about his new riding school and classes that he started up this year and will be continuing next year. His classes designed to help you improve your street skills and are given mostly in the immediate area.  Less costly than having to travel a great distance for such courses.  www.streetskills.net Jon is a MSF rider Coach having taught for Learn2ride for several years. He is dedicated to rider safety.

"This holiday season, give a gift that lasts every mile. Jon will have available gift certificates to his 2016 on-road courses right here in the Rochester area. " Great idea for your 'wishlist' to give your family!

Holiday Cheer & Meet & Learn about Local Clubs

A Holiday Cheer Party to thank you, our customers, for your business. Come and enjoy a little Holiday cheer and snacks with us. It will be kind of like an office party but better because we've got 2-wheeled vehicles to browse around and talk about instead of boring work stuff! Members from the Finger Lakes BMW Club www.fingerlakesbmw.org , the Finger Lakes Riders Assoc. www.bmwflra.com  & Rochester sport Motorcycling & Touring Club www.R-Smat.com plan to be here to introduce you to their Club activities. Each Club has their own focus on different aspects of riding & being part of a Club. Be sure to take this opportunity to talk to the members. We've had folks ask us about finding people to ride with so meeting these Club members might give you some insight.

Bring your "Honey" or anyone you would like to share your passion with.

Don't forget to inform your family about your Country Rode wishlist. Remind them that a gift certificate is good toward anything (even that bike you want)!
