Vaughn is an incentive to everyone. His advice is: "Don't let life's roadblocks stop you from living life to the fullest you can"
This trip was so that Vaughn could complete his goal of riding his motorcycle in every state. Most of you are aware that Vaughn has a specially equipped BMW K1200LT with sidecar that he rides. It was a hot hot day for this ride however around 150 bikers shpwed up to participate. Here are a few. The Rochester DGR raised approximately $21K for Prostate Cancer awareness. The Country Rode team reached their goal of $1000. Thank you to all those who donated to this worthy cause and for supporting us. Thank you Rome Celli & to all those who set up, selected the route & led the participants. We congratulate you onan awesome job well done.
It was a fun ride, this is the second year CRM participated in last year.
2017: The 43rd Annual Rally
Rally was it's usual fun event. Certainly got your fill of seeing Beemers of all ages, models & condition. Nice showing of vintage bikes on Sunday. New this year was a local winery & brewery with tastings each evening. These were a big hit from what we hear.
Friday evening when we set up was very cold & got down to 41 degrees. Saturday was cool & windy but sunny. Sunday rainy off & on. About 550-600 attended during the weekend.
It didn't rain, hard to believe! It was a beautiful evening for a ride. Art led the ride on some cool back roads with the only obstacle encountered this year was a pokey haywagon. arrived at a busy Mac's so had a little food wait but had lots of motorcycle chat to keep our minds distracted from our stomachs.
Bill Stone, the ZERO Rep will be here for our Demo day. It was a busy day last year and folks discovered the fun and power of the ZERO. If you've been shy about coming and trying one out, here's your chance. Find out for yourself what it's like to go electric!
A COUPLE OF GREAT QUOTES
“The Zero is a preview of coming attractions: a technically superior, emotionally inferior motorcycle, effortless to ride, crazy fast, fetishly tech, and all electric.”
-Dan Neil, The Wall Street Journal
“I needed no further convincing that—if you’re comfortable with the initial cost—Zero has succeeded in making electric motorcycles practical for the long haul as well as shorter trips. I also found riding 180-mile days on this DSR much less tiring than on a similar combustion-engine motorcycle. The lack of noise, vibration and heat really makes a difference over a long day in the saddle, especially with the convenience of not having to work the clutch and gear levers.”
-Alan Cathcart, Rider Magazine
We regret that Joel, Helmet House Rep., will unable be here to show you the newest Shoei, HJC, Tourmaster & Cortec products for 2017 due to an unexpected business conflict.
The Wayne county Motorcycle club's annual Adventure tour wenton in spite of a cold rainy begining. 35 hearty riders took a challenging ride on some muddy roads. Fun was had and their bikes were in need of a serious bath afterward ad they were more than ready for the Club's chicken barbecue.
We have received no information from BMW Motorrad regarding the winners of the Instagram giveaway. Once we do we will announce it.
In spite of the weather (cold & rainy) we had a great turnout of approximately 125. We want to remind those who were disappointed in not being able to take a Demo ride to please come back on a nicer day and we will be glad to accomodate you!
Everyone had a good time talking to all the local (and not so local) Vendors and trying out seats.. We hope that you all came away with some new plans to "Make Life A Ride"!
Congratulations to the following lucky folks who won door prizes: Gary Marks,Codi Calder,Steve Haines,Dann Valenza, Alex Chilig, Steve Rankin,Brooks Lyon, Peter Bondy, Jack Fiero. The photographer regrets not having taken photos as she might have gotten some interesting ones!
The following local Vendors were on site to help you plan YOUR riding Adventures from learner to advanced and no matter what you ride. Country Rode thanks them all for helping to make this day fun & successful.

Kristen Nolan, Audiologist @ Sounds for Life, was to be on hand to give a Presentation about protecting your hearing which is so important to us. Our Art is very aware how disabling the loss of hearing can be! Kristen, has ridden motorcycles most of her life with her father and uncle who love to ride. She should have great insight on protecting your hearing while riding.
Kristen has been an audiologist for 17 years. She feels strongly about hearing conservation and feels that you can do what you love to do while preserving your hearing as well! Kristen knows that motorcycle riders tend to have hearing loss due to the noise exposure, not only from the bike but from the wind as well. Our discussion will be a general topic of hearing and hearing loss as well as prevention and options for listening while riding.
****Kristen will bring earmold impression materials for sound suppression earplugs and can make these on site.
She will bring sample custom earplugs that fit into your iPod or anything with a headphone jack.
Here is the Link to her website for more information.
Here's the link to Marcin's GPS Presentation for those who weren't able to be here or who wish to study it more thoroughly. Thanks to Marcin for insight in using this program.

If you haven't experienced a track day recently, you might be missing out. Yes, typical track day's can be filled with adrenaline junkies and lots of fast-paced action. But some have a more reasonable character that is little known. Jon DelVecchio from Street Skills LLC was here to explain how easy it is for street and sport-touring riders to spend time on a racetrack. Tracks are both fun and educational. He will share several track day organizations that are directly suited to the street rider.
Had a great turnout with lots of delicious chili......12 to be exact. Most we've ever had! Some learned about GPS Basecamp use, some just tasted and enjoyed motorcycle chat while checking out the 'bike of their dreams'! A good time was had by all.
Wild West in 7 days!
Stop dreaming and putting off the trip off that you always wanted to take.
Come and learn how few good friends and the "other guy" got together and planned one of the best off road weeks ever. It took a little bit over 24 hours to transport bikes from Rochester, NY to Colorado Springs, CO, drive was flat and long but what followed after was breathtaking and life altering. This journey takes 5 diverse riders through Colorado's and Utah's backcountry roads. Distance? Almost 2000 miles. Cost? Under $1000. Memories? Forever. This will be interactive presentation where you will learn on what it takes to plan and take a trip like this. We will walk through each day of the trip and share our experiences. If you are not lucky enough yet to experience off road riding this journey will have you cross to the other side or leave you drooling for rest of the day - tissues will be provided
Doc aka Wayne Edkin & wife Robin, who do lots of motorcycle touring on their K1200LT sidecar rig, gave a very informative 'Traveling to Newfoundland' Presentation. These questions were answered: how hard is it to get there? Weather, packing, planning? Are there places to stay? How big is that place? Robin and Doc Edkin shared tips and tales of their recent sidecar adventure to this Canadian Maritime province and showed lots of beautiful pictures. Everyone enjoyed the Presentation and there may be some serious motorcycle travel in the future for some. We thank the Edkins for taking the time to share their adventure.
Click on the above photo to see a fabulous photo slideshow from the Edkins.
35 folks enjoyed Marcin's presentation about National Parks touring. On a 9 day tour some of the Parks visited included Zion, Arches, Bryce & the Grand Canyon. Miles traveled/day varied from approximately 200-450. Input from customers was very positive with regard to roads traveled, sights seen, accommodations, organization etc. Marcin is planning more tours in 2017. Note photo of list. Start planning now and let Country Rode help you obtain the items needed to take a motorcycle trip like this. Example of items you might need are: cooling vests, riding apparel, heated liners, helmets, tire repair kits, small tools, etc.

35 folks enjoyed Jon Delvecchio's 5 Top Aha (learning) Moments Presentation. Plenty of audience interaction and lots of follow up socialization. We'll bet everyone went away having learned at least one important thing! Here are the 5 Top learned techniques: 1. Throttle adjustment; 2. Body position; 3. Brake Application; 4. Smooth Shifting; and 5. Trail braking. Thanks to Jon www.streetskills.net for a great educational seminar
Here are the 'Gentleman' on the Country Rode Team who rode on Sunday. Everyone completed the ride and had a great time. It was a fun ride full of curves, circles, turns and some great city views. Thanks to all of you who sponsored our team and thanks to Rome Celli for putting the ride together for a very worthy cause.
It didn't rain and was a beautiful day for our Track Tour. We had a 30 bike turnout and the 30 folks had great tour on the newly paved track. It was also fun watching the sports cars on the track beforehand.
We apologize that no photos while riding on the track were taken. There was miscommunication with the Photographer and it has been confirmed that photos were not taken. We regret that as we know it's always fun to find your photo
Otherwise, everyone seemed to have a fun time. Below is a quote from Kevin Dix who rode his Triumph.
"Great day at Watkins Glen International Raceway, got in the three laps. The officials cracked down on passing and speed a bit so I had to be relatively "good". Still got in some passes and speed is good any time. When we arrived there were some little four cylinder Chapparal type racers going at it. Then the Miata's, VW, Excort, and Volvo/Saabs took the track. Finally they let us loose!
Thank you Art and Lyn Elting and Watkins Glen for a great time."
Thank you to all of you who joined us. We are contributing $500 to the Alzheimer's Disease Research Fund at the University of Rochester. We appreciate your donations to this worthy cause

We did not wish to miss the opportunity of a ride on the newly paved track. More info can be found on the Track Tour event. Hope that you join us.
Our 3rd dinner ride was to the Pultneyville Deli in Pultneyville where they have great salads & sandwiches. Nice ride on Lake road to get there too. 6 of us had a super ride on some neat roads that Ron found to challenge us. Then we had some delicious sandwiches and salads sitting outside at the Deli. If you get a chance to stop there it's worth the visit. Unfortunately, Lyn forgot to take photos as she was having such a fine time. Sorry you missed it.
